Z60m internet problem

#1 Post by ryengineer » Sun Feb 04, 2007 3:01 am

My sister dropped her Z60m at my place to take a look around why her wireless internet isn't not working.

Problem:

Upon connecting it to my wireless internet it says "This connection has limited or no connectivity" with a small, yellow exclamation mark on the network window.

Tried Solutions:

-Reinstalled drivers.
-Checked system restore to see if she installed anything new, no luck there.
-Googled the web and found similar problems like this but most of users reported it after the installation of Windows XP SP2. I think SP2 is not the issue because it has been on her thinkpad ever since microsoft released it and this problem has occurred only recently.

The wireless card is intel's.

Thanks.

What wireless utility are you using? Microsoft wireless or Access Connection??

If you are using Access Connection, uninstall that from your computer and use the Microsoft wireless.

*She dropped her thinkpad???:?*

USER EDIT: I used to have this same type of problem, and i used rescue and recovery to reconvert my wireless drivers to the time when it is working and till now, i refused to update my wireless utility from microsoft.

OUCH!

Sadly, even after uninstalling Access connection, it does not work. I'm thinking of doing rescue and recovery too.

Btw by "dropped" I meant left.

Cheers!

Ok, since you have done the AC uninstallation and it doesn't work, you need to use the rescue and recovery method. Press the blue button and get started from there. Recover your thinkpad to the previous workable session.

&

Good Luck...

Not so fast.

There are some other things to check, such as repairing the Winsock. Here are some links that may help.

Troubleshoot TCP/IP Connectivity

How to recover from Winsock2 Corruption

Using the Network Diagnostics Tool

Corruption at the Jersey Shore

Minimizing 802.11 Interference Issues

EDIT: Some other things... What about security settings, MAC address settings, and hardware firewall & software firewall settings.

There is no hardware or software firewall installed. There is a Mcafee Virus scanner and its Security Center installed. Everything looks fine with MAC address settings.

I just noticed DHCP is down on her thinkpad.

I am looking at the links you provided, I will post its result later.

Cheers!
