Bluetooth Firmware 2.1.211.299 major problem

#1 Post by ms » Sun Feb 04, 2007 2:27 pm

Hello,

Since I installed the Bluetooth Firmware version 2.1.211.299 which is available since 2007/01/26, I have Problems with my screen. On the lower left there are white lines. They appear as soon as the LCD is powered up during Bios initialization and are visible also in Windows

If somebody has an older version (2.1.92.108 or 2.1.50.108) could you please email it to me at: m.schwarzenberger(AT)gmx.at that I can try fixing the problem? I haven't found the older versions on the website of Lenovo.

Thanks a lot!
Michael

Did you mean problems with firmware version 2.1.211.299?

Do the white lines go away when bluetooth is powered off?

Sorry, you are right, problems with 2.1.211.299

The lines won't go away when I deactivate Bluetooth in Bios. But there is no possibility to deactivate Bluetooth in Bios completely, just to "hide" BT.

Here is a picture of the effect

I contacted the Support, they have no access to older Software and they are working on the backend also only with the Lenovo Webpage.. man what an organization, they have no access to their own files. I am still looking for the FW, if someone can find it on their disk, pls mail.

Is this a confirmed issue for other users as well?

in the past, ALL drivers, applets, bios upgrades were kept available..
even back to the bios upgrades for the thinkpad 700 series..

it is available someplace, just not to lower level support personnel..

have you tried escalating this issue..?

are there any others similarly inflicted with white lines..

i assume the white line is the one across the bottom of the display..?

yes, I mean the white line at the bottom of the screen. In the meanwhile my pixelerror free display isn't pixel error free anymore. at the white line a dead green pixel appeared. I talked to another service man on the phone and he said that they maybe have to change the panel. Tomorrow DHL is going to pick up my laptop and when I get a description of the error, I will post it here.

I am not sure if other Laptops are also affected. The man on the service line hasn't heared of a similar case, nevertheless I would not recommend the BT firmware update if everything works fine.

is anyone else experiencing this issue? I know that an older BIOS version caused some very strange behavior of my first gen T60 so I would attempt to update to the latest BIOS to see if that works. how a BlueTooth firmware would mess with the graphics display is puzzling.

Got it back today and the lines are gone.

But it seems that my T60p is not very lucky. The technican made a scratch at the back of the LCD and did not even replace the small plastic cabs which cover the scrubs. They look like I put a screwdriver on them and tried to pull them out. The packet which took 4 days to ship to me (so called DHL Next Day ) looks like it got shooten through a canon from there service place to my home and nearly falls apart.

Under "Part Description" of the sheet which was in the package there is writen "LCD Assembly" - does this mean they replaced the LCD or may they just readjust it?

Call them and explain that you were not satisfied by the service and to just send you the parts so you can fix it properly without damage.
