most flexible laptop seller?

i'm looking for a laptop seller that will ship a notebook without an OS, an HD, and RAM. i don't care if it is refurbished but it has to carry a warranty option. any ideas?

I remember that at least at one point, Lenovo was selling an X60s model that didn't include HDD or RAM, for a much lower price than the regular X60s. Too bad I can't remember how I found that.

oh come on pianowizard, don't tease me like that! an X60s without HD/RAM should be within my budget, any chance they are still selling those?

I can only tell you that I saw one of those units between 1 and 3 months ago. It was just an accident and because I wasn't interested, I didn't pay much attention to it. Hopefully someone else can give you more concrete info.

the reps i talked to today seem to not know or have conveniently forgotten. nobody knew anything about this option.

I am sort of remembering where I encountered one. Someone was selling a bunch of X60s on eBay with identical specs. I thought his description looked fishy because it stated that the HDD was covered by the HDD manufacturer's warranty whereas the rest of the laptop was under Lenovo's. I looked up the model number on Lenovo.com and that configuration turned out not to include a HDD or memory.

I just came across another Thinkpad sold as a barebones unit by Lenovo. Look up 0657AMU on Lenovo.com and you'll see these specs:
