T60 recovery CDs (Windows Vista Business) on T43p

#1 Post by bin.dong » Mon Feb 05, 2007 12:21 am

I just got a T60 with Windows Vista business OS preinstall on it. So I was wondering that the T60 recovery CDs will work on T43p? If so, I'll order a set of recovery CDs in order to I can have two machines running with Windows Vista.

Any idea before I phone IBM?

Thanks

Legal:
If product recovery disks come with a new serial number and part of the money you pay Lenovo for disks goes to MS for a new OEM license, than it may be legal.

Technical:
A. Some drivers on T60 recovey CDs will be incompatible with T43, but you may download the needed drivers.

B. Did you have to activate Vista when you first run the T60? If so, you may not be able to activate Vista on the T43 with the same serial number.

C. You should be able to create a set of product recovery disks yourself with the Rescue and Recovery software.

Just curious: did you have to activate Vista on a TP with pre-installed Vista?

They should not work. They should be bios locked to the specific MTM (7 digit model of the machine).

If it works... I'd be very surprised.
