Squealing power brick

#1 Post by mcvosi » Mon Feb 05, 2007 3:30 pm

I noticed a very high pitched squealing sound coming from the power brick for my T60p. If I put my ear up to it, it's fairly loud.

Is anyone else's like this?

Edit: this is with a 90W adapter.

I placed the power brick in a window sill and I can clearly hear it too... It also varies in pitch and intensity, but sounds like a random pattern. I can't find anything related to the usage that changes it.

This is unfortunately something that power supply manufacturers still have to work on.

My T4x went through 3 power bricks before I got one that was quiet :?

It took me 2 returns as well before I got a quiet one.

I've noticed it only does it when it 'trickles' power - and not full-on charging.

I will be returning mine to ibm in the due-time.
