t60p 14.1" samsung is washed out

I recently purchased a t60p 14", to replace my stolen t60p 15".

My reasoning was that the 14" would be a bit more solidly built, and lighter, and that the loss in screen res/size was worth it. This seems to be the case, however the display quality of the 14", is frankly, terrible.

In general, blacks are totally washed out.
If I change my viewing angle, I can get some portions of the screen to show up acceptably dark, but not all of it. (notably the edges)

The screen has a blue tint (like the 15" did) which doesn't bother me much, but the washout makes all colors appear weaker and less contrasty.

With very little flex on the screen, I get wavy patterns.
This was noticeable during use, while riding passenger on (bumpy)
San Francisco streets.

This is the first time I have purchased a thinkpad where the first thing I noticed was the poor display quality (from a 600x, to t23, to t41, to t60p).

I don't know if I should consider this to be a faulty panel, or if somehow I'm being overly picky, or if other manufacturers are better (I believe this is a Samsung 13N7058).

Tomorrow I will attempt to see if Lenovo will crossship me a replacement 15" (with me paying the cost diff, naturally), as I don't consider this display to be worthwhile for the amount of time my eyes spend looking at it per day.

Any comments/similar experiences on this matter?
