#1 Post by sfara » Tue Feb 06, 2007 3:04 pm

T41, NMB keyboard.
I have this french awerty keymap and i want it english to qwerty...so i need to change a few keyboard keys. My question is: how should i do it, how should i unplug a key so i wown't ruin it. Should i just lift it?

Waiting for advice

Stick your fingernail (or something equivalent if your nails aren't long enough) under the key (from the bottom) and gently push up. It should come right off. To put it back, you just push down until it clicks into place.

There is, however, a slight risk that it won't come off easily, and forcing it too much will get the entire mechanism that holds it out of place. Then it will be a pain to put it back in. I had done a couple of times, and it's possible, just annoying, and you need to be careful.

How to put the key back in place easily???

--> Just lay the key cap evenly on the mechanism and gently push the key down. Push at all the 4 sides of the key cap to ensure that the key cap gets lock down in place.

*Be gently*

Reporting success. If you do it gently...there is no problem.
Thank you.
