What's DVD playback like on the flexview?

#1 Post by Vasant56 » Thu Sep 16, 2004 1:10 pm

What's DVD playback like on the flexview? WIll it be better than the 14.1"? I plan to use my laptop as a dvd viewer, and I was just wondering if the flexview makes it better.

Hi Vasant56 I've owner two 15" thinkpads, one with flexview and the other without. Both look very good to me, but I'm not an audio/videophile I just enjoy the movie. It has been said that the ghosting is worse on the flexview, but I don't really notice it. Perhaps I could if I watched the same movie with lots of action on both types at the same time I could see a difference. The difference I can notice is that the flexview has a much wider viewing angle, with the non-flexview and two of us watching a movie the LCD had to be positioned just right between us and any movement to the side caused color shifts and brightness loss. Now with the flexview there is really no color shift even beyond 45 degrees off center and the brightness is best straight on and drops slightly at 5 degrees off center but stays at the level out beyond 30 degrees then slowly drops off from there. I guess what I'm saying is that I could enjoy a movie even watching at a 45 degree angle and this would have not been possible before, maybe 15 degrees at most before.
