Standby Indicator Light Stuck

I have a new r60. The standby indicator light is stuck on even though my computer is no longer in standby mode. The light stays on even if I shut down the computer. Can anyone help me out?

It needs repair. Call IBM (Lenovo) service and have it repaired under warranty. ... JD Hurst

I am away at school. Will any damage be done to my computer if I run the machine with this light on on until I get a chance where I can send it in to get fixed? Is this just a problem with the light or is there a more serious problem underneath?
