You'll be getting a Widescreen WSXGA+ with 14.1" dimension for the front (horizontal measurement) of the laptop. Remember that screen measurements are taken from the top right of the screen to the bottom left so that it form a diagonal line.

Sounds like a fair deal.

Do you want a Widescreen Thinkpad I take, but right now there's a really good deal for about ~1700USD (upon configuration) for a T60p with the fastest FireGL V5250. Sweet deals is the name of the promotion BTW

Yes it is a 15.4in wide screen. You have to remember that screen size is measured diagonally. Thus a 15.4in wide screen will only be 14.1in deep. I believe a 14.1in wide screen is 13.1in D.

Looks like a nice system to me. Where are you getting it from for that price?

Thanks guys. I realized the width was right after I posted.

This is at Buy.com right now. I think I have a 7% coupon from them I can use as well.

I'll have to look at the P mentioned above as well. The upgraded video is an enticement, but this price was looking pretty good for the widescreen.

I ordered that same model this morning - used Google checkout which brought the price to $1455 shipped.

rebop, it's quite smart of you not to order from Lenovo.com. BTW, the same model (87445BU) is $1,598 on Costcentral.com and $1,674 on Euclidcomputers.com, so you are saving lots of money!
Microsoft Surface 3 (Atom x7-Z8700 / 4GB / 128GB / LTE)
Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF (Core i3-3220 / 8GB / 8TB); HP 8300 Elite minitower (Core i7-3770 / 16GB / 9.25TB)
Acer T272HUL; Crossover 404K; Dell 3008WFP, U2715H, U2711, P2416D; Monoprice 10734; QNIX QHD2410R; Seiki Pro SM40UNP

whatever the merits of ordering from lenovo.com , the merits of ordering from buy.com are open to question. I"m a longtime customer of that website but have had occasion to return three items in the last few months. EACH AND EVERY TIME I had to threaten to do a chargeback on my credit card to get credited for the returns. EACH time, this was after numerous back and forth emails and I only started the emails about two weeks after online tracking showed they had received the returned merchandise, had signed for it, but continued to show the status of the return on their website as "RMA Issued."

I haven't ordered anything from them since.

I ultimately came to the conclusion that this was intentional, that they were hoping that customers returning stuff because it was defective, or whatever, would fail to follow up and notice that they'd gotten it but done nothing towards issuing a credit.

I hope that whomever orders this expensive item is happy with it when it arrives because if you are not, expect to have a lot of aggravation on the way to getting any sort of satisfaction. I would not buy, under any circumstances, any item over $50 from these people, ever again.

I am sorry to hear about your frustrating experience with buy.com. I have been told that after receiving a returned merchanise, the merchant is legally allowed up to 30 days to issue a credit to the customer. So, it's possible that buy.com's policy is to wait for that long before refunding their customers, and if that's indeed the case, they should have informed you of that.

I'm not talking about how long it took for the refunds to post to my credit cards. How long they would have to do that would presumably depend on state law and their agreements with the credit card issuers. I'm talking about simply acknowledging receipt of a returned item, two or more weeks after their employee signed for it on their own loading dock.
