Lenovo Vista Upgrade DVD, did anyone get it?

#1 Post by iatacs19 » Thu Feb 08, 2007 11:04 pm

I filled out the coupon and faxed in my receipt for my T60p. The status showed validated, but there is no shipping information.

Has anyone's Vista Upgrade DVD shipped??? :(

My status was validated even before I sent in the receipt. I am not sure even if the guys at moduslink are striving to facilitate us with the upgrade or not.

When did you fill out your coupon?

I'm thinking Moduslink is one of these luddite companies that does everything by hand 'cause they just don't trust computers.

I've managed to trace their headquarters to a trailer park outside of Flagstaff, Arizona. Their personnel consists of two retired ladies and their nephew Eugene, who looks after the place for them. I phoned the other day and asked the lady who answered if they were having problems with spam or something, since I wasn't getting e-mail replies. She said, "No, the grocer here nearly always keeps it on hand." They were having spam and tomato aspic that very day for lunch, apparently.

Oh, well.

Just this morning I got a very nice message from Moduslink saying that my proof of purchase had finally been processed. My COA had been processed about six weeks ago. I did that online. But it took them another six weeks to process the POP, which I mailed to them. Perhaps I should have faxed it.

The message says my order should be sent within 4-6 weeks. We'll see. At least they followed through.

As of this morning, my Vista upgrade order is at this status:
Order Number : xxxxxxxx
Order Status : Order sent to Back office
Shipping Date :
Carrier : Standard
AWB# :
I'm hoping that "Back office" is a good place for my order to have been sent to. I'm picturing it sitting for weeks on somebody's desk in the "Front office", then finally someone picked it up and carried it to the "Back office". This is the message I'm expecting next:
Order Number : xxxxxxxx
Order Status : Order lying around Loading dock
Shipping Date :
Carrier : Standard
AWB# :
But it might be this:
Order Number : xxxxxxxx
Order Status : Order taken to Break room
Shipping Date :
Carrier : Standard
AWB# :
or, worse:
Order Number : xxxxxxxx
Order Status : Order left in Ladies' restroom
Shipping Date :
Carrier : Standard
AWB# :
Oh, well. At least I'm getting plenty of time to think about whether I really want to go through with this upgrade.

Your order has been shipped. You should receive your order within 1 week. If you do not receive your order, please contact us via email MSTUPVISTANA@moduslink.com by May 1, 2007, for English language versions of the product and June 1, 2007, for non-English language versions of the product so that we may research your request and ship your order.

I got notification that my order shipped Wednesday 7 March and received it from the courier on afternoon of Friday 9 March.

Now to try the upgrade process.

What did they ship you? Is it a standard Vista upgrade DVD or is it some specialized Lenovo DVD?

I just checked today and mine now says:

Order Status : Order is approved
Shipping Date :
Carrier : Standard

It's been saying POP/COA validated for a long time, so I guess this change is an improvment.

I can't figure out MODUSLINK's terminology. For weeks my order status was "POP/COA validated". Yesterday, my order status was changed to "Order sent to back office." Today it says "Order received". I feel like things are moving backward.

MODUSLINK, if you're reading this, I'm sorry I made fun of you. Really, I am. I didn't mean any harm. You're great, and I mean that. I know you've been under a lot of pressure, and I was wrong to tease you as I did. In fact, I appreciate you more than I can say, and I think I'm speaking for all of us. I'm sure none of us could have done any better. I've grown because of this experience. I'm a better person because of you, MODUSLINK. Look, forget about the Vista upgrade, for now at least. Take a few weeks off. Spend some quality time with Mrs. MODUSLINK. Give yourself permission. Get in touch with the child within. Have a massage. Sleep in. Catch up on the news. See a flick. We'll be here waiting when you feel more rested. Thanks for being there for us, MODUSLINK. We love you. We do.

This is the normal progression. When you check tomorrow it will say that they have inadvertently lost your order and you have to place it again. :P

It's a miracle! I think HE double hockey sticks froze over.

This is the email I got today:
Thank you for submitting your order for Windows Vista Business 32-bit CD/DVD OEM.
Your order has been shipped. You should receive your order within 3 weeks. If you do not receive your order, please contact us via email MSTUPVISTANA@moduslink.com by May 1, 2007, for English language versions of the product and June 1, 2007, for non-English language versions of the product so that we may research your request and ship your order.
And this is what the website says:
Order Status : Order is shipped
Shipping Date : Wednesday, March 14, 2007
Carrier : MEXP
I originally placed the order on December 7th, so it only took 3 months, 1 week, and 4 POP send-ins to complete.

To ease my mind a bit, do you remember what the "Order Status" was just prior to "Order is shipped"?

It had been "COA/POP Validated" for a long time. Then just recently it changed (I only noticed that it changed on Sunday) to "Order is approved" and then it changed to the shipped status today.

My status changed like this

1. COA validated.

2. COA/POP validated.

3. Order Sent to back office.

4. Order received.

and now it's stuck like this for the last few days.

I received my first copy yesterday, haven't installed it yet. I am waiting to see if there is a simple way to do a clean install, no time to mess with this stuff right now...

My 2nd copy just shipped!
