Can't create Recovery Discs

#1 Post by alerteye » Fri Feb 09, 2007 8:00 am

Hi,
In my Z60m Thinkpad with Windows XP Home Edition when I try to create Recovery Discs I get the following error message -

"The files required for creating the rescue media cannot be found"

I am following the following steps - Start>ThinkVantage>Create Recovery Media. Then in the "Create Rescue and Recovery Media" window I am selecting "Create a set of product recovery discs now" under "Recovery Discs" option.

I want to reset my Laptop to factory default settings, please let me know if there is any other method. Note that I do not see an option under ThinkVantage rescue and recovery program that can be accessed by pressing "ThinkVantage" button while booting the laptop.

Thanks in advance.
regards,
Rajesh

The only way out is to buy the recovery disks from lenovo or post your question in the market place forum.

When you press the ThinkVantage button while booting up, you should have the option to Restore Factory Contents. Normally that should bring your ThinkPad to factory default settings.

I tried that too, but I could not find an option (as listed in the Help) to reset the Laptop to factory default setting. There are no radio button for resetting the laptop to factory default.

Sounds like a call to Lenovo is in order. Explain your situation to them, and perhaps they will send you a set without charge.
