HDD Invisible when Booting from DriveImage CD

#1 Post by ochrist » Sun Feb 11, 2007 5:19 pm

Using DriveImage 7, I am trying to restore an image of my system drive C (Windows XP). However, after booting from the DriveImage CD, none of the HDD partitions are visible to the program.

In contrast, when following the same procedure on a Dell desktop, I have access to all the HDD partitions on that system. I thus conclude that this is not a problem with the software, but an issue with the hardware / BIOS configuration of the T60.

Does the T60 have some sort of protection enabled so that one can not see the HDD when booting off a 3rd party CD? I looked through the BIOS settings, but nothing immediately stood out.

I would appreciate any insights you might have.
Thanks / Oliver

Most likely this is because the drive image cd you have is not aware of SATA harddrives like in your T60. To fix this you have to enable compatibility mode for the hard drive in the bios.
