IBM a/b/g wirleless use SuperG my tp is reporting 54/108Mbps

#1 Post by Mr_Roboto » Fri Sep 17, 2004 12:46 pm

I recently bought a wireless router(D-Link DI-625) to network my desktop and my Thinkpad together. I am using the default IBM a/b/g wireless card and drivers. The desk top is using a D-Link DWL-G520. I am getting two diffrent readings as far as my network transfer rate. IBM Access Connections is stateing 54Mbps and the Wireless Network Connection window is stating 108Mbps. Which is correct?

The fallowing link is a screen shot of the two windows: http://www.karenandrich.com/question.jpg

Is there a way for me to properly test my transfer rates?

Thanks,

Rich

Hi Rich,

I think your IBM Access Connections reported speed is correct.

I use a DLink DI-624 and a DLink DWL-G650 PCMCIA "G" card in my T30.

Originally I tried using the built-in IBM "B" wifi.

To test the speed, I copied a large (several hundred meg) file from my desktop PC to my laptop, and did the calculations. Clear difference. Try it and see what you get!
