Ethernet on OSX

Hi, I'm having no luck with my ethernet for OSX.

I've installed 10.4.8 JaS, my ethernet card is Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit. Has anyone got this to work? Any help would be great?

My Laptop is a Z61p

So far I have working:
* sound working
* video: only at 1600x1200x32 it will not do 1920x1200x32 for reasons i do not understand. No dual video either.

any ideas?? I've seen a lot of different guides on how to get simular cards to work but had no success.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
