Adding internal wireless to T21

#1 Post by furiousmonkey » Tue Feb 13, 2007 12:13 am

Maybe this has been posted before, I was wondering if there was an internal wireless for the T21? I am using an external USB with a USB 2.0 PCMCIA Card.

It is possible to install a MiniPCI wireless card into a T21 (similar to the one I just did on a T23), however you will lose the ethernet capability (if you already have it). The T21 uses an ethernet MiniPCI card or a modem/ethernet combo card. I don't believe that there's an ethernet/WiFi combo card available.

Your other option is to use a simple PCMCIA WiFi card instead of a USB-to-PCMCIA adapter.

I use a Belkin Wireless G notebook card for my T21. It gets good range and works perfectly with the machine. The best wireless card would be the 3COM with the X-jack antenna. The antenna pops in and out of the card. Makes it easy to pack your computer in a bag.

A short time ago i needed a wireless card quick so off to staples for a linksys....a friend showed me a card he got off the "bay" for $12 delivered..i tried and compared both..returned the linksys and bought two more off the bay ..they are generic boxed but the driver cd calls it a "ralink"....tried one in a friend's newer HP with built in wireless,,,same range, same signal strength.....
my two cents worth,,,
