Z61M CD drive misaligned?

#1 Post by acampbell » Wed Feb 14, 2007 5:03 am

Sorry for this very ignorant question but I'd never seen a machine of this type before.

I noticed that the CD-RW drive was sloping down at the front. This seemed odd, compared with my older R50e and pictures of the Z61M I'd seen in a review.

Then I discovered (!) that the drive is removeable (well, it didn't say so in the manual) so perhaps it isn't really a fault? Can someone comment please?

Drives are removable in new thinkpads, even in many old ones, atleast the ones I've come across (A31, R51 to name).

If the drive is working normally then everything should be fine.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

This is what my Z61M looks like. I was a little concerned initially over the gap on the far right - but I guess it's normal. Drive functions and inserts/removes fine.

Thanks for replies and for the picture. This is what mine looks like too so I suppose it's OK. However, the drive has stopped working so it's back with the suppliers at the moment.
