Another T40 problem . . . . . . . .

Howdy folks,

Here in regards of T40 #2 . . . when I turn it on the screen doesnt show. . . it occasionally does . .but, majority of the time does not. It just went off warranty about a month ago. Any suggestions???

T40 #1 just "died" after plugging in my USB drive.


I used to have more hair before i bought these computers. Haha.

The usb drive problem happens to be sometime. It only powers back on if you remove the battery and then put it back in. The way around this is to have the usb drive in the laptop before you power up. Sorry about your problems.

Sounds like a biggie (display/backlight). If your computer is just 1 month out of warranty, I'd call IBM and see what they can do for you under "Customer Goodwill".

Can you see anything on the display at all, no matter how faint (try shining a flashlight on the LCD)? Try attaching an external monitor to the VGA port and see if anything shows up (do this with the laptop turned off, then boot the laptop with the external monitor attached).

No faint picture in the background . . I will try attaching an external monitor later today when I get back from school. The computer also freezes quite frequently too. Weird weird weird!! [censored] you IBM!! Thanks for your help!! :cry:

it's probably the gpu gone bad. do a forum search for gpu, it's a problem frequent with the t4x series.
