#1 Post by sloomy » Sat Sep 18, 2004 3:34 am

Greetings

A friend of mine has a Thinkpad X20 with a bad screen fauilure shown in the photo :

THe left side of the screen has always that vertical white stripe.

What can be done ? Is it the screen itself , or graphic card, or motherboard etc ?

Thanks

Are you sure? Do these lines also shop up on the BIOS setup screen, in exactly the same place?

If not, it could be the display cable that has come loose. Open up the computer and reseat the cable on both sides, i.e. on the display and mainboard connectors.

Connect an external monitor to the VGA output. If it doesn't show the lines and reseating of the cable didn't help, it's most probably the display panel going bad.
