Wifi Signal 95% in XP and only 60% in Vista

#1 Post by stephenaron » Thu Feb 15, 2007 7:38 am

Any reason that my laptop running Vista now is getting a signal of only 60% when 10 feet from the same Linksys router i have been using with the same T60p when it was running XP Pro? T60p has the 3945 card installed. Any help?

Seems like a lot of us are having that same issue. Haven't found any solutions so far. What I find funny is that access points reporting very low signal strengths jump to 60% once connected. For the time being I'm just ignoring the reported signal strength and going by how the wireless connection is performing.
I do not get this problem with pcmcia wireless cards so I suspect it's an Intel driver issue. No surprises there

Create a custom profile in Power Manager. You can then set the wireless power level under the "Advanced 1" settings.

Cheers,

I created a new power profile, and did waht you said under advanced. Nothing changed.

No surprises there as the problem does not appear related to power management.

I had a similar issue, except with the Atheros card instead of the 3945. In my case the problem was fixed simply by uninstalling the Lenovo issued driver and reinstalling the std Vista driver
