No Sound, Requires Restart

I tried searching for this problem, but I had no luck.

Over the past 3 days I've done some web browsing, played some games, checked e-mail, watched movies and only a few minor uninstall/installations.

But almost everyday I bring my T43 out of standby to find that I can only hear system sounds like the system prompt but no music or audio from games movies etc...

When this happens I cannot access the volume controls (Gives me an error message about a "mixer"? Not sure) and only restarting fixes the problems.

Any ideas?

You can try running System File Checker and DirectX diagnostics to see if they might help. From Start > Run, type the following in the text box for each and click on OK.

SFC /scannow

dxdiag

I tried that. Didn't seem like it found anything. I'll see how it goes. It's only happened once since I posted.

if you use firefox, quit it before entering standby/hibernation. that worked in my case.
