Replace TYPE after mobo-change needed?

#1 Post by RealBlackStuff » Sat Feb 17, 2007 8:45 am

My T30 2366-87G had an assy-2 mobo with security chip and 2GHz CPU.
Because it would not display anything on the LCD I replaced it.
I now have an assy-2 mobo without sec-chip.
As per BIOS this came from a 2366-66U, which originally had a 1.9MHz CPU.
Q: should I change the Type-Nr using that special Maintenance floppy (or using the latest BIOS-update 2.10, which also offers that option)?
What effects/advantages/disadvantages does this type-change have?
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)

Are you keeping it for yourself, or are you going to try and resell it?

If you are keeping it, then it doesn't really matter, because you will know exactly what it is.

If you are reselling it, then it might be worth changing it, so that the buyer doesn't think that you are trying to trick them....or just explain to them that you replaced the system board and be done with it.
