ibm desktop as gaming/media center

now if only lenovo's site wasn’t a huge pile og billions of models i would probably already know what to buy but honestly, after several hours of reading i still don’t know what’s the real difference between A, T and M models. Not to mention each models millions of sub-models.

im very happy with my T60p and i see no reason not to stick to lenovo also when i comes to gaming and media centre. obviously that has some requirements such has enough space for nowadays graphic cards, which usually take up 2 PCI-E slots and regarding media center it needs to be low noise. The rest i can fix my self, such as more ram, dvd burner, core 2 duo etc.

from looking at the model i think the cabinet which will fit this PC best is the 4 bay tower. the large 5 is too big and the others im not sure they have enough space for large low noise coolers and graphic cards.

please let me know if you have knowledge on the subject, thx in advance! :D

Others may have different opinions on this, but as much as I love the ThinkPads, I'm not certain I'd go with Lenovo for a media/gaming desktop. At least in the past, they have simply not put much if any effort into being a force in those market segments prefering to stay in the realm of the office machine.

That's not to say that they don't have a model that would be perfectly adequet in that application, but I just think I'd keep my options open and look at everything else as well. For myself, I've built my own desktops going back to 486s.

I have a Lenovo 8115D37 (Thinkcentre M52) that I use as my primary gaming system.

I had to do a few upgrades to make it a true gaming machine.
I added a EVGA Nvidia 7500GT 512MB PCI Express Card and a Creative Labs Xifi sound card. I've also added 2GB of ram to the system.

I use this system every day and it works well. If you want to use a higher end video card I would suggest upgrading from the default power supply (most OEM non gaming systems range 200-350W).

Lenovo desktops make a pretty good foundation for a gaming system IMHO. Plus you have a warranty with a central place unlike a homegrown system. I used to build my own systems and got tired of the constant fighting with compatibility issues.

if you upgrade to 2.5 gb, your t60p should be good enough for medium/light gaming (unless you like to play with highest level of graphics)
