Anyone have experience with the Hitachi Feature Tool?

I was looking this over and it looks interesting:

Does anyone have experience with this tool? It looks like one might be able to improve performance with write caching and by allowing the drive to be a little louder. However, I don't want to screw anything up! And I don't know what the defaults are for the drive - maybe it's already set for maximum performance.

A lot of users on this forum use the Hitachi tool to tweak advanced power and acoustic settings. The tool is safe to use from my experience.
