T40 WLAN MISSING

#1 Post by speedy123 » Mon Feb 19, 2007 2:26 pm

I have a T40 that seems to have had its WLAN disabled. The WLAN light at the bottom of the screen flickers and lights when it picks up wirless signals but there is no sign of windows XP even noticing it has a wireless adaptor.

I have been all over windows and cant find anything to activate it. I am probably missing something really simple but .............

Anyone got any ideas what to check next.

Thanks.

Has the wireless worked before? Or is this a new (to you) notebook which has never had wireless working?

If the latter, it would be worthwhile to pop off the keyboard and ensure that the wireless card is seated properly.

Good day to you. Not sure if this is exactly your problem or not but figured it cant hurt for you to check. First in the
Navigate to Control Panel\Adminstrative tools\Services Look for the Wireless Zero Configuration and make sure it is started and set to automatic.

Next navigate to Control panel\network connections in there you want to right click the wireless connection and click properties On the second screen you should have properties again. Make sure there is a check in the box to let windows manage the wireless connections. On a side note you can also make it appear in the taskbar by putting the checkmark in the second to the last box ( Am doing this from memory as I am not in front of my laptop) This might be the problem. Hope it helps.

Thanks!!
