Micron Ram question
Hi,
Is Micron RAM a good choice for my TP or should I stick with an IBM authorized stick with a FRU number on it?
Thanks.

Micron is a good brand and as long as the specs match your Thinkpad's requirements, it should be fine. But people do get surprised every now and then, so I prefer to play it safe and get modules with IBM FRU numbers on them. I just bought a Samsung 40Y8403 stick and a Kingston 40Y7734 stick (both 1GB PC2-5300 CL5) on eBay for a total of $140US for my T60.

Micron is probably in the top ten of the world's largest DRAM manufacturers. Whenever I purchase memory, I always buy Micron DRAM through Crucial.com, its retail web store. The website makes it very easy to select the correct memory. Memory prices fluctuate, and you can see this on the Crucial website if you check over a period of a few weeks or so. I've got 2 GB of Micron memory in my X60.

Thanks guys. I found 2 x 128mb Micron RAM for my TP600. I need pc66 and this is compatable with my system. I just wanted to make sure it was a good brand before buying.
Having said that though, I have a pc100 128mb stick in there now and it seems to work fine. It has an IBM FRU number on it and I thought if I could just get one stick of pc100 with the same FRU, then I should be OK. But the 2 Micron sticks are almost as cheap as a single stcik with an IBM FRU. If Micron is a good brand, I would rather go with 2 of those and keep my IBM stick as a spare.
