I just sold my trusty old A20p and want to replace it with a T42. Of course the problem is which one to get, IBM doesn't make it easy.
One of the biggest problems for me are my eyes, the 1400x1050 resolution I had on my A20p was not easy for me to read without wearing my glasses and I don't want to go through the same thing again so I am eliminating the 15" display and would like to get the 14.1" display with the 1024x768 resolution. I found this particular model, 23736VU which seems pretty nice. I can deal with the hard drive being 40gb, (it is 5400rpm isn't it?), what I'm afraid might be a problem is the 32mb vram video card. 32mb seems pretty low these days and I hope this isn't going to be a problem if I want to use it with an external display. Otherwise it seems likie a nice compromise.
What do you think, is anyone using this particular model? Any advice or other options? I'm all ears.
Want to buy a T42, but which one? Hows the 23736VU?
why not go with the 15" SXGA+ model? you get the 1400x1050 resolution but its stretched out over 15" so it shouldnt be as bad as your A series. and that way you get all that nice screen real estate. as for the video card. if youre not doing anything 3d, then dont worry about the 32 mb. anything you get in 1024x768 isnt going to have anything more than 32. the 15" in 1400x1050 comes with teh radeon 9600 with 64 mb

It doesn't matter. Any 3D app that needs 64MB of VRAM won't run decently on the 7500 graphics chip in that machine anyway.rocketman wrote:I just sold my trusty old A20p and want to replace it with a T42. Of course the problem is which one to get, IBM doesn't make it easy.
