Battery concern
Battery concern
Hi all
Got my T60p 10 days back so it has done at the maximum two weeks of work (counting a few days of work in the US before it got delivered to me).
The situation with battery is as under
Remaining percentage 96%
Remaining Capacity 80.28 Wh
Full charge Capacity 84.15 Wh
Temperature 28C
Charging Cycles 4
Design Voltage 10.8
Voltage 12.42
First Used 12/2006
Anything to worry about there?

actually you are comparing the wrong numbers,
Remaining percentage 96% => the current charge percentage of your battery, this doesn't show anything about wear level.
Remaining Capacity 80.28 Wh => exactly like above, the current battery power, it changes as you charge or discharge your battery.
Full charge Capacity 84.15 Wh => now this is important, this is the maximum capacity that your battery is still capable of.
you should compare the "Full charge Capacity" with "Design Capacity". if they are far off then it means your battery is dropping in capacity.
for example if your "Full charge Capacity" is 40Wh and your "Design Capacity" is 80Wh then it means, that currently your fully charge battery is %50 less capable of what it used to be when it was new.
i hope i was clear,

I realized after posting the message that I left out an important point.
The power scheme is "Maximum Battery Life" and the level to which it charges is dropping (does not charge to 100%). It was 98% two days back and now it is 96%. Will it go to 0% level over time?
I do not understand this change and felt it was some kind of deterioration.
I have been using the machine connected to the mains.

Thinkpads by defualt do not begin recharging the battery until the capacity dips below 96%. One that happens, it will charge up to 100%. This is to prevent the battery from needlessly doing a bunch of short cycles. If you want to change this, go to the power manager, battery information tab, click battery maintenance, and you'll see the options for this there.
