The problem started about 1 month ago and has been an ongoing problem, maybe every 2-3 days or so.
Code: Select all
Version: 79ETC9WW (2.09)
Release Date: 2007/01/15 Had similar problems, turned out that Windows and IBM/Lenovo components that managed power options were to blame, somehow they both put the laptop in power-save mode but couldn't decide among themselves who's gonna wake it up. Disabled all but Windows one, worked flawlessly so far. This is on WinXP SP2.dgsowers wrote:BIOS Version/Date (1.09a), 7/27/2006
Just tonight I had the laptop sitting on the coffee table with no apps running and not plugged in. I come back an hour later and the display is totally black. Nothing I push can turn the diplay back on. The green LED status lights show wireless radio signal, battery power and I assume the power on indicator. I had to power cycle to get running again, this time I know the laptop wasn't hot.
I see that the Lenovo BIOS update has a much newer version, I'm willing to give that a shot...but it sounds like we are experiencing similar problems.
How did you do that?Pirx wrote:Had similar problems, turned out that Windows and IBM/Lenovo components that managed power options were to blame, somehow they both put the laptop in power-save mode but couldn't decide among themselves who's gonna wake it up. Steady at 68 C? That is little high. What applications are you running?o1sowise wrote:So far, I've been up for 1 day 19 hours 43 minutes. My CPU temps are steady at 68 degrees C.![]()
I know it's high. This is because I'm running BOINC all the time.ryengineer wrote:Steady at 68 C? That is little high. What applications are you running?o1sowise wrote:So far, I've been up for 1 day 19 hours 43 minutes. My CPU temps are steady at 68 degrees C.![]()
Strange. I changed this setting for mine to 'Balanced' and Windows XP hung at the first display screen every time I tried to boot. So now I've had to keep it set to 'Max Performance' even though my machine runs pretty hot (idle GPU 75-77 C, 3d app 100-107 C).o1sowise wrote:In the BIOS, in Power settings, there's an option called Adaptive Thermal.
I had that set to Max Performance.
Two days ago, I changed it to Balanced.
I know the BIOS Power settings and the Windows Power settings and the ThinkVantage Power Manager settings, sometimes do not play well together...Splaktar wrote:Strange.
