Fan noise (during startup)

#1 Post by Cecilia76 » Fri Feb 23, 2007 4:14 am

Hallo,

since january when I turn on my T42p (2373htg) I can hear the noise of the fan very loudly. It is not the usual noise (caused by the spinning movement) but it seems that the fan is exited from it's natural place or maybe that something has gone within the rotation space of the fan.
I opened the ThinkPad but (at my eyes) all seems ok.
Any suggestion?

Thanks, C.

try having them change the fan on warranty. mine does the same, it's realy annoying and might get worse.

Does it still is still under warranty? If so you can get it repaired without any cost, if not you can get one here at the marketplace or even ebay. For less that $25.00USD.

Thanks to everybody.

Yes, it is still under warranty so I'll try it.
Can anyone point me to the ITALIAN phone number for assistance?

Thanks again, C.

I don't know the phone number, but here is a link to the IBM Italy website: http://www.ibm.com/it/.

There is an excellent IBM service facility in Zurich, I have used it a few times over the past few years, very quick and helpful people.
