T30 Video card Replacable ???

#1 Post by richp » Fri Feb 23, 2007 3:18 pm

OK, limited experience with laptops other than to do installs and reinstalls and such.
Don't have the manual handy, it's at home, this T30 has an ATI video card, are these cards replacable in laptops ? I know the onboard intel ones are not but are these ATI radions 'on board' or are they a seperate card. No, I have not taken this apart and hope not to other than to open the memory cover for a couple of 1gig sticks and *maybe* a wireless card...
I alway try to go that extra mile at work, problem is the boss always finds me and brings me back

Unfortunately, no they are not replaceable...they are soldered to the system board.

No, thats not of interest, I ran the vista tool and it failed that on the video part big time. Got this laptop mostly for java builds on site for customer custom builds that we can't push down over the net.

If it makes you feel better, my R40, with a 2.2GHz P4-M processor, makes it by with a 1 rating. I can't run the Aeroglass feature.

Aero glass will most likely not run unless you have a graphics made in the last year and half. I have seen Aero glass run of 64MB cards so I know it is possible with some of the T4x, but you cannot use 3d Flip since you need a win key which most thinkpads lack.
I have finally rejoined the dark side.
ThinkPad T450s, Core i7 5600u, 12GB RAM, Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD.
Previous ThinkPads: T41, T21, 600E

The Keyboard Customizer Utility can be used to assign Win key function to any of the Alt/Ctrl/Shift keys.
