G40 Internal Connector Question about what its function is.

#1 Post by tomstarich » Sat Feb 24, 2007 11:53 am

To All,

What is the function of the internal connector pictured in the following photo.

Background. The connector was broken off and I cemented it back on so as to avoid the heat of solder. I felt the connection was good but it has been found the sound cuts out when a cd is played. Is the connector used to handle audio from the CD/DVD rom?

It is located next to where the floppy drive ribbon plugs in and is centered in the image provided of the G40 mother board.

Yes, that is an audio connector for the CD drive.
