Stand By problem
Stand By problem
If my computer is in Stand By mode and i try to wake up it by opening the lid or press the power button sometimes the screen won't turn on.
The screen is black, there is not even a back light. But the computer is on because the moon led is off and wlan and harddrive leds are on.
It happens usually when i'm using computer on battery. Is there anything what I can try to do fix the problem?

I've seen this once on my T60. I worked around it by using Fn+F7 to cycle the display to external and back again.
You should visit the Support / Downloads and Drivers page for your system and make sure you have the latest version of the power manager driver (2007-01-31). It's probably worth checking the BIOS, too - tech support tell me there's been a lot of BIOS upgrades recently.
You might also see a problem with being unable to resume after sleep or hibernate if using the fingerprint reader. Symptoms: machine powers up, you swipe finger, you see desktop wallpaper but no icons or taskbar and the only way out is to power off. Best I can figure, it's an interaction between the ThinkVantage Client Security Solution and the Symantec Client Firewall. Disabling the firewall will fix it.

As you may see, I was having similar problems, then applied a patch, and had even more issues, but I am now cautiously optimistic that after applying over 20 patches through system update (including new bios), I may be in the clear. I'd be interested in your results!
The specific patch is here:

I have been noticing some of the same issues lately. My problem generally seems to occur when on battery power. Some experimentation seems to suggest that you need to be sure the power profile or scheme you have chosen is fully active (if that's the right term). Before you let the display turn off, change the power profile or scheme to something else, then change back to the profile or scheme that you want to run in. If you want to use Standby while on battery operation, try unplugging the AC adapter before going into Standby. If you try the above, let us know if this makes any difference for you.

I already have latest bios and latest version of power manager. I also uninstalled the Symantec Client, because I like to use F-secure products.
But I think that this black screen problem have something to do with password and log on screen. In power management I uncheck the option Recuire password on standby resume.
After that my thinkpad wakes up everytime and go to desktop without black screen. I don't now is this only luck now and the problem comes back tomorrow.
