normal T60 Vs T60 WS: which finish do you like?

#1 Post by gator » Sat Feb 24, 2007 6:36 pm

If you notice the finish on front "edge" of the thinkpad (where the lid latch is found), you will notice the difference in design between the T60 widescreen 15"/normal 14" ones and the 15" T60s. The widescreen and the 14" ones sport a flatter design compared the sharp finish on the 15" normal ones, and from my experience using a 15" and a 14", I find that I prefer the flatter design.

I just wanted to see if people really have a preference at all for this. Please post comments for your votes if you have a good reason :)

I don't have a preference and there is no apparent reason for that. But the thing I do prefer in my T60's is LG/Philips LCD over Samsung.

My preference is SXGA+

I have never been able to get my head wrapped around the "wide screen" idea and for me the big things is to see a remote server connection in a 1024x768 Window. My preference is to see my "desktop" as well as the "desktop" of the remote host.

As for size, the 15" is easier to see, but I am willing to sacrifice for the smaller size and weight of a 14.1" screen. Five years ago I could have seen 1400x1050 on a 12 inch screen: five years from now I will likely have to return to a bigger screen.

I actually prefer the way the 14" flat edge looks, even though I have a 15". I prefer the 15" IPS screen though.

I also prefer the 15" IPS not the widescreen which i saw at circuitcity today and is very wide for me.

and, let me ask you this guys I know is off topic but what's lenovo market strategy?? because they usually don't sell through let say "
consumer's stores", they started selling at compusa, now at circuitcity and what else?? walmart could be next? i hope consumer people make balance and choose lenovo because these still the best computers and also hope that they see the track point as a reason to buy lenovo. hehehe !!!

I personally don't care either way, but I do like the new position of the speakers on the 15.4" T60. I do know that when I had the 14" T4x and the 15" T4x, I preferred the front of the 14" series instead.

I find the 14 and the 15.4 WS very similar, and yes, prefer the flattish-boxier style. I had a chance to compare the 14 and the 15.4 last week side by side, and I found them very similar in regards to portability. The 14 does weigh probably .5-.75 lbs less, but in terms of FORM factor, I don't perceive a large difference. Seeing as they have the same depth, its only about 1.5 inches wider. Now the 15" standard I find humoungous.

14 > 15.4 WS > 15 in portability. I know a little off topic, but hey, we are morphing that direction.
