Does anyone have the T42 model@#23795VU?

#1 Post by rocketman » Mon Sep 20, 2004 5:42 pm

Testerday I was checking out T42's, I want one of the 14'1" displays with the wxga resolution due to the 1400x1050 resolution being problematic for my eyes. The problem was that all of the wxga displays are using the ATI 7500 video card with 32mb of vram. So I called IBM today and asked if they make a T42 with the 14.1" & wxga resolution with a better video card. I was told this particular model #23795VU? has this config but uses the ATI 9000 64mb video card.
Is anyone using this particular model? Also if anyone is using the 14.1" display with the wxga resolution (any video card) can you let me know what you think of the display itself.

The Express 23795VU is identical to the non-Express 23735TU. Both have a 14.1" XGA 1024x768 LCD and have a 64mb ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 video card. These are the first T-series laptops to use the new Dothan Pentium M 725 1.6ghz processor, and also the first T-series laptops to feature a 64mb Radeon 9000 (besides the 64mb FireGL 9000 found in the T40p). There are no IBM laptops that offer the WXGA resolution. Only XGA (1024x768), SXGA+ (1400x1050), and UXGA (1600x1200) are available.

So, csv96, how do you like your 23795VU? I trying to decide between it and the 2378FVU! I am just afraid that the 1024x768 resolution on the 23795VU will not be sharp enough. What do you think overall of your laptop?

Wow, I've got to look at the TABOOK again.

I would seriously consider a T42 with 14" XGA, no SXGA for me.

My other preference is a 15" flexview.

Now if I could just be sure about the build quality issue. So many 14" T42s are being discussed here with issues. Maybe it's nothing.......
