My right shift key is squeaky/sticks - is this fixable?

It's minor but my new T42p shift key is really squeaky and the keyboard is phenomenal besides that key. Is there a way to fix this or do you know why the one key is bad?

I had the same problems with left Ctrl key.
I called IBM and they sent me a new keyboard.

Same here - I had a problem with the right arrow key sticking and clicking differently than the other keys and IBM sent me a new one. It was the Thai keyboard - Much better than the China keybaord, me thinks.

so they send you a new keyboard and you replace it yourself and send the other back? can i not just fix the key myself? I bet the spring or whatever just isn't in right.

eh it's so minor i'll just leave it and wait til my keys get all gummy.

They send you a new one, and you send the broken one back - The keyboard is a user replaceable part. Very easy swap.

You could try fixing the keyboard by removing the key, HOWEVER, if you were to break the key by accident, then they keyboard WILL NOT be IBM's responsibility anymore and you void the warranty on the keyboard. Right now, it is considered a manufacturing defect - If you break it, by trying to fix it, it is not...

The right shift key isn't that bad, I guess - I don't think I ever use it - So, it's really up to you - If you can put up with a broken keyboard, leave it. If you want to make use of the warranty, which you paid for, call IBM and get a new/working keyboard.
