T40 charger problem

This is a problem caused by charger

I suspect the shutting down unexpectedly problem might be your T40 is experiencing overheating issue. Open up your thinkpad and clean out the old thermal paste and apply a new coat of Arctic Silver 5 over the CPU and also clean out the dust accumulated in the fans and the vent holes.
