Hmm. Good question. I'd doubt it, because so many companies have been pushing Microsoft to hold off on SP2 until they can conduct further testing, but it's entirely possible that it may ship with it. If so, I would bet that it's removeable through Control Panel like it is on the upgraded machines.

I think it will be several months before IBM ships SP2 with their computers.

Not for IBM yet. When IBM gets all working it will notify you to download and install.

Frankly, I'd do the SP2 update first thing after the basics of checking the unit out. That way, you can roll back if you have any issues without the risk of having to reload all of your apps.

I did mine a couple of weeks ago, and so far no issues.
(In fact I do feel a little safer
