Hi,

The difference between the T41 and the T42 is that the T42 is a newer model. The main thing different is that it comes with an Intel Dothan Processor, which is a Pentium M with 2B Cache, and the T41 came with an Intel Banias processor, which is the older Pentium M with 1MB Cache. Also, there are some T42 models that have 15" screens, whereas T41 were only available with a 14" screen.

The p models of both series are simply the highest performence models (designed as workstations) with the most powerful hardware available. The main difference is in the video card, where T42p and T41p have a 128MB ATI FireGL T2 Mobility, while the T41 and T42 have 32MB or 64MB ATI Radeon 9000 and 9600 video cards. All the p models also come with high resolution screens (you won't find a 1024x768 p, I don't think).

And one last thing, the T42 and T42p are available with a DVD-RW, which didn't exist when the T41 series came out. However since they both use the same swappable bay, if you can now upgrade a T41 to a DVD-RW just like a T42. Hope this gives you some insight :D
