x60 case recommendations?
x60 case recommendations?
Hi there,
I am new here so please be gentle. I will be getting a x60 next week. I am planning for a protective case from Elecom;
http://www.elecom.eu.com/products/Lapto ... index.html
Anyone know if it is a perfect fix? Any other recommendation? Anyone knows if the Crumpler laptop case 12'' will fix better (it has a relatively bad protection/simpler as compared to Elecom)? I am rather concerned with the zip (metal) of any the case scratching the side of the thinkpad when it is being zipped up (anyone has such bad experience? Any advice?

Check out http://www.sfbags.com and look at their sleeves. I have had one for each of my last 4 laptops. Nothing to scratch with excellent build quality!

i have a z61m and have the 15.4" wide version of the pouch you are looking at.
1.the memory foam is excellent
2. the zipper has an inner protective layer so it won't scratch the laptop
3. it is a flat design. meaning that it has no height where the zippers are. and you will have resistance when closing. (my thinkpad is 1.6" thick and it does take effort to close up)
the covering plasic is not too fancy and you know it's not leather...
i paid about USD20.00 and for the money it's worth it especially the foam part. it protects the laptop very well.
hope this helped...

Thanks for your prompt replies. I am inclined to buy the Elecom case because I am rather impressed with the memory foam material. I am very convinced it can provide a better shock protection. Now given that I am highlighted with the zipper protection (Crumpler did mention that in their laptop case). I should be getting it.
My other concern which I have is that the x60's 8 cells battery is not flushed with the x60 laptop so with a 8 cell attached, I am worried that the x60 case 12'' willnt be big enough.
I heard lots about the gary sleeves but if you have toyed with the memory foam you will be rather convinced that they are a better choice.

Hi,
I just reveived my WaterField sleeve for my X60s and all I can say is that it is wonderful. The notebook goes strictly in it and it has no chance to move around.
I would highly suggest to you to buy a WaterField sleeve as they have the perfect product for you.
Regards,
Miri
