Hi,
Thanks for the help! In the mean time, what anti-virus can I use until I get a new LT? I had Sygate before and when I upgraded Mozilla, I lost it.
Seems that the anti-virus stuff I look at is for everything but 98SE or is from companies I've never heard of. My friend is getting Norton for free from Google because his PC uses XP.
I don't mind paying. I really need something to tide me over. Any help appreciated!
Rikki

I understand that avast! has been rated by PC Magazine as good, but don't know if it runs under W98:

And a couple of threads here:

Personally, I'm still using Norton AV 2002 on most of my systems. I tried a more recent version (2005, I believe) but had some problems with it and am looking for something else as well.

Here is another consideration depending on how open minded you are. Try one of the linux distirbutions, Suse, Fedoracore, etc. They are free, almost a drop in now and come with quite a few packages like openoffice which will handle any of the microsoft stuff. I have 8 systems here at the house, 9 counting the laptop, 4 run windows, the others run suse and fedoracore. At that point anti-virus software becomes a non-issue.
I alway try to go that extra mile at work, problem is the boss always finds me and brings me back

Yes avast does run on windows 98, a small partition of my hardrive is dedicated to a copy of win98 (dont ask why).

Avast runs well on it with no errors.
Sygate can still be found to download, as for the mozilla Firefox thing, same thing happened to me, I upgraded and all of a sudden sygate would not let it connect, simple adjust the settings in sygate to allow access again for Firefox.
