R52 DVD Drive Problems

#1 Post by samstevenson » Sun Mar 04, 2007 3:10 pm

On my R52, the DVD/CDRW combo drive (M a t s u s h i t a UJDA770) I have seems to be having some problems. It seems to read cds fine most of the time, but has problems with reading DVDs. I have some burned DVD-R's that when put in, the drive doesn't even read any disc being in it. Occasionally the discs will work, but the majority of the time it will not read them. I've tried blank DVD's, both +R and -R of different brands and it has problems reading them. Does anyone know why I would be experiencing these problems?

If your machine is in warranty, call IBM Tech Support, explain the problem and ask them to send you a replacement drive. :)
