Fan Noise

#1 Post by Nigellus » Tue Mar 06, 2007 12:13 am

When I was staying at a friend's house this week, there was always a loud whine coming from the other room. I could even hear it upstairs at night.

No, it was not a ThinkPad fan. It was a Compaq.

(I've never thought of my 600E's fan as being very loud, so I was surprised to notice that it is a common complaint for TPs)
T420 i5-2520M 2.50GHz 4 GB RAM 64-bit OS WIN7pro SP1

T60 1951-46U Intel Core Duo 1.83GHz 1 GB RAM 60 GB XPpro

TP 600E 2645 PII 366MHZ 160MB RAM 37.2GB WIN98SE

Computers do exactly what you tell them at amazing speeds; this can be bad if what you told them wasn't what you had in mind.

Yeah, my Dell laptop does produce lots of loud fan noise. Perhaps louder than that compaq.

Can hear it with my room door closed. And imagine me taking my Dell to the library to use with everybody\'s eyes fixing on me and my Dell.

That\'s why i switched to thinkpads. When you turned on the thinkpads, yes, the fan noise is audible and after a while when it reached the XP black boot screen, the thinkpad become dead silent (working thinkpad)!!!
