unknown hd space

#1 Post by bostonguy » Tue Mar 06, 2007 11:53 am

About a month ago I noticed I had 37.6gb of unknown hd space, not free or used simply unknown according to windirstat. It turns out that the thinkvantage rescue and recovery software had gone a little backup crazy and was the cause of this problem, I deleted all the backups and the issues was gone. Now after sending my laptop back and forth to the depot for repairs I finally have a chance to sit down and use it again, and I have 12.3gb of unknown space once again, however it is not from the rescue and recovery software as there are no backups. System restore is set to top off at 5000mb, and thats way too large for a swap file. Does anyone know where this unknown space may have come from?

Disable system restore, maybe the old backups are taking the space.

Then Turn it on again then set the limit to 5000mb.
