Actual size of X60-Too small? The toshiba 12.1 I saw was?

I saw a toshiba 12.1 today although it was wide screen. I could not believe how small it looked. Too small for me.

The X60 pics seem much larger in every way. Can the normal aspect screens be that different than the widescreens?

I don't hink I can pull the trigger until I see an X60 live and we know that will likely never happen.

You might try local university book/computer stores. They may have the X60 on display. You'd think Stanford would, but who knows...

I have an X60s and I've seen the widescreen 12" machines...they look too small. The X60 looks more like the T60's little brother.

I'll check out De anza and Stanford, SJSU etc...And its good to know my eyes are not playing tricks. The pics of the x60 do look much larger.. Just like you described - little brother

the x60 is pretty much about the same size of a piece of paper slightly
smaller. It should give you a picture how an x60 looks like.

I owned a 12.1" widescreen Dell Inspiron 700m which has a very similar form factor to the Toshiba. I have also owned an X60s and six older X-series Thinkpads. In terms of dots per inch, the X-series is lower (i.e. bigger text) because the physical area of a standard 12.1" screen is slightly larger than that of a widescreen 12.1", and because the Dell's (and the Toshiba's) resolution is 30% higher. But in terms of physical size, the X60 should be smaller than the Toshiba, especially in terms of thickness and width.

I'm sure the Toshiba constitutes a larger physical area. When you see one against an X60, the Toshiba seems small. I think it's a visual thing...a screen that's more of a square and slightly taller looks bigger than a screen that is wider but not as tall. It's not rational, the square that's taller just visually seems larger - to me anyway. I've never looked at my X60 and thought it looks too small, but I've looked at the Toshiba and thought it looked too small.
