Internship Options The Mathworks Inc or Cisco Systems
Well the thing is I am 80% there with mathworks and around 70% with cisco, meaning I did the the interviews with mathworks, they are calling my refferences today. with cisco I need to call their hr.
so yeah I have information on the internship programs for each company. the reason I am asking which one to choose from is,
what is my prospect of
a.) moving up the ladders at each company
b.) work environment ,( i guess you would have to have experience)
c.) how are the pepole(again if you have experience please share)
Thanks

I can't speak about Cisco, but I can offer a little help with Mathworks. From the couple of times I've been there (I've never been an employee, but they're just down the road from my university and our math club visits there from time to time) I'd say it's definitely a positive work environment. They also seem to really support students/interns/new graduates. I helped judge a high school math competition in Boston one summer and Cleve Moler was there to help out and handed out free copies of MATLAB. You could look at it as just a promo thing, but it seemed like he was definitely interested and supportive. I know it's much but hopefully this helps you out a little.
P.S. - just curious, would you mind elaborating on you background (math background, graduate/undergrad, etc.)

Hi Superego,
Well, I am a graduate student in EE, and I focus in the field of signal/image processing, I don't know what do you mean by math background its just that engineering uses alot of math, in particular
linear algebra for image transformations, and alot of Fourier analysis,
hmm what else calculus? is this what you mean? I am happy to give more
Acctually your information is very helpfull, I am very critical about working environment, I firmly belive great cheese comes from happy cows if that makes any sense.
