T43p cmos time problems

#1 Post by koolzero » Fri Mar 09, 2007 7:20 am

I just got a replacement cmos battery from IBM because I am getting an error when I boot up saying

0271

Check Date and Time Settings.

After I change the settings and shut the machine off I get prompted again. What else can be causing this, bad system board perhaps?

All the HMM says is:
0271

Date and time error—Neither the date nor the time is set in the computer.

Run BIOS Setup Utility to reset the time and date.

When I run it and correct the time if I power the laptop off then back on it asks me to run it again.

I will call IBM back and find out if I can send it in.

Are you SURE that you are entering the BIOS in Supervisor mode as opposed to User mode (it depends on which password you enter to get into BIOS). If you are in User mode you may think you made the changes but it won't be saved when you exit.
