new hard drive: specific brand ?? (shock protection in mind)

#1 Post by thibouille27 » Sun Mar 11, 2007 4:44 am

Is there any specifics on this? Will the shock protection stop working if I buy any hard drive not in Thinkpad OEM typical ?

Any height limiting factor (have an X60) can I just buy any 2,5" SATA hard drive ?

AFAIK, any hard drive should work with the Active Protection System. I don't have a T60 so I can't comment on height issues.

Good luck!

Your height shouldn't matter much. Your best bet is to measure your current drive and try to keep something the same height. Most new 2.5" hard drives are very short, and should fit nicely into your laptop. My T30 can actually handle the bigger hard drives, if you pop the casing open a bit to put it in and remove it, but I'm not sure for the X60.
