Bamboo laptop? ASUS says so!

#1 Post by gator » Mon Mar 12, 2007 12:04 am

I gotta post this:
http://www.trustedreviews.com/notebooks ... -Bamboo/p1

ASUS has a new bamboo enclosed notebook - called the ecobook. While I have my doubts about the strength and durability, you have to give a thumbs-up to ASUS in this case - the finish looks really gorgeous. Does anyone own a ASUS machine here? I have been reading good reviews about them of late ...

Wow...that paper one looks quite bizarre!

My girlfriend has an Asus A3A that she got middle of last year...it's not a bad machine at all. Looks reasonably good as well, however the keyboard doesn't have the same crisp feel that my T40 has, and she's commented about that as well when she's typed on mine.

Way #21 that you know that you are a thinkpads.com forum addict: When you see brand names, you think of the member who's adopted that name rather than the brand itself

I sort of had my eye on this model:

Well really not, I love the matte black Stealth appearance of my Thinkpad. I think a bamboo laptop would look great sitting on a nice big executive desk somewhere, but would never see the joys of travel.

Acer has Ferrari, Asus now has Lamborghini. When are we going to see a Tundra Toughbook? Soon, perhaps.

Good idea, i hope a lot more developers and engineers are going to be impressed and inspired by the "Cradle to Cradle concept", don't know if Asus is working inspired on their ideas, but whatever floats the boat, i guess.
I was absolutely stunned by the amazing ideas these men have brought us and Thinkpad too i believe .
So to everybody, greeny or no greeny, read their book it is a realistic approach to improve a product and the way of producing them enviromentally friendly. (and still make good profits doing so, maybe improving them)

How about an Aston Martin or Lotus?

I want a laptop that can lay down an oil slick, fire missles and explode if someone tries to hack it.

For some reason I keep misreading the topic title as "Bamboo laptop? ASUS says no!" :?

The laptops indeed look very very nice.
I don't know exactly, but wouldn't wood go bound "easily" after some time? The idea of heat and wood...

So a wooden thinkpad with leather cover and a wooden trackpoint?

Sign me up for a Carbon Fiber Aston laptop. Maybe Lenovo will come out with an F1 ThinkPad since they sponsor it now.

But the wood is beautiful.

my aston martin lagonda has been known to lay down an oil slick, though entirely unintentionally..
and with the vintage lucas electrics, shooting off missles and exploding can't be far behind..

:)

lets see..
a thinkpad with an oil finish and a lucas thinkmaybelight..
