T23 S-Video Output

#1 Post by Andersonjoe711 » Wed Mar 14, 2007 1:44 pm

Last year, I tinkered around with the S-Video output, on my T23. I noticed that it acted similar to an Averkey (Teachers had them at my High School). The problem was, that it was clipping off part of the screen, and the resolution wasn't too good. I was also hoping to use it to play a video, or DVD onto a TV, but I couldn't find a way for it to just output video, instead of my screen.

Is this a lost cause, or am I just not doing sometihing right?

What the S-video out does is only show the section of the screen that will fit natively on a TV (720x480 pixels I believe.) If you move your mouse around, you will notice that the TV picture will "follow" where your mouse goes. As for the low resolution, or poor picture quality (more description would be helpful) it could be a bad s-video cable.
I have finally rejoined the dark side.

There are two things you can try to get rid of this problem (assuming your screen moves like as said in the above post.)

#1 You can try using the utility that is supplied by IBM (Lenovo) by setting up an "SVideo out" profile. This is what I do and I've never had problems.

#2 You can try going in to the display settings (in XP: right-click>properties>Settings) and setting the second monitor (SVideo) as primary and turning off the LCD. It might also help to try decreasing the resolution of the SVideo there.

What exactly is the name of that utility?

I believe that utility would be Presentation Director:

Follow up: I downloaded the presentation director, and i figured out how to change the resolution of the picture on the TV, and now it works (near) perfectly!
